The Terrible... Ones?

Forget the terrible twos. I'm starting to think the term "terrible ones" would be more appropriate. Or maybe just "terrible toddlerhood" in general. Not that I think my son is "terrible" by any means. But lately, he's been, erm, pretty expressive. I like to think he's experimenting with how to react to his emotions. Maybe it's teething related, but I haven't seen any new teeth come through yet (he's had his four incisors for a while now). It seems to me that ever since he started walking and "talking" (although it's still mostly babbling), he is Mr. Independent and suddenly knows what he wants and when he wants it. And if you don't help him achieve whatever goal he has at that moment, well, then he's going to throw a fit until he a) gets his way, b) is distracted by something else, or c) gets a good nap in. Oh, and that's another thing. We've crossed into the territory where naps are highly important and they don't just happen spontaneously. Colin is a creature of habit who thrives on his routine. When it's time to go to sleep, he needs "puppy," a paci, and his white noise. The good news is, when we lay him down and set the ambiance of his room for naptime, he happily puts himself to sleep. So there is that.

However. During his waking hours, he's become your average unpredictable toddler. When we take him out somewhere, there's no telling what our outing will be like. Sometimes he is a perfect angel, pointing at random objects and babbling on about them, and at other times, he HATES the restaurant high chair, hates the people around him, and just wants to get DOWN so he can walk around and say hi to strangers.

I don't know why I'm surprised by these things. I've been around toddlers and I know how they are. I just always thought the tantrums wouldn't start so dang early, you know? Oh, well. I feel like Justin and I are doing a pretty good job of parenting our sometimes unpredictable (but insanely cute) almost- 15 month old little boy. And you know what? The snuggles we get at the end of each day make it all totally worthwhile.

Do you have an expressive little one? Do tell!

Happy Easter!

I hope you had a marvelous Easter! We certainly did. My mom and sister came down from Michigan for a short visit, and while the weekend went by far too quickly, we had a great time. Here are a few photos from our Easter.

My little sharp dressed man ready for church!
With my boys on Sunday morning.
Swinging at Mema and Papa's house after church.
Going exploring with Uncle Clark.
First time on the trampoline! Being silly with Aunt Shannon and cousin Emily.
I took a couple pictures with Aunt Callie and Grandma Joy last night and this morning, but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. More to come soon. :) Have a great week, all!

TAT: Favorite Photo

I'm linking up with Mama G at Growing Up Geeky for Toddle Along Tuesday today. The topic is "your favorite photo." It's absolutely impossible for me to pick just one, but this is one I've always loved of my sweet Colin. He was 7 months old here, and this was his first time getting up close and personal with the grass in our backyard. He wasn't sure how to feel about it. :)

Gosh, I love those chubba cheeks. Do you have a favorite photo?

Some random tidbits

Have I mentioned that I've been a terrible blogger lately? I have all these ideas for posts, and no time to write anything out lately! So, for your entertainment, here are some tidbits about Colin and me.

Colin...

is curious...

loves to go on walks...

 enjoys being naked....

is a happy little man [most of the time.]

...has the cutest baby tooshie ever!

And a little about me...

  • I'm a little bit obsessed with Instagram.
  • I lost 2 lbs this week (hooray!) and am down to 148.5 lbs. I can't remember the last time the number on the scale was that low! [Keep in mind, I'm 5'0"... so I'm not at my goal quite yet.]
  • I've been eating Chobani Greek yogurt almost every day for breakfast. Colin usually has yogurt, too. We both can't seem to get enough.
  • Hubby and I have been visiting a new church for the past 3 Sundays, and we've been feeling really good about it.
  • I am loving having my little brother around. He's been living with us since January, and plans to move out for grad school in August. Colin loves his Uncle Clark, and I love having another person in the house, too.
  • And on that note, I really need to make time to talk to my parents and sister sometime soon. I miss them a lot, and we haven't talked in a while.
  • I am excited for Colin's first "coherent" Easter this year. He was all of 3 months old last year, and now he will be able to enjoy some of the festivities around this fun, colorful, meaningful spring holiday. I dyed and decorated some eggs yesterday, and Justin and I bought him a little blue Easter basket with some toddler-appropriate goodies for next weekend. We'll do a little egg hunt sometime soon.

Well, that's all for now. More to come! Have a great week, dear readers.

See that fancy new tab?

You know, the one that says, "I'm a PR friendly blogger"? That's right! I've been contacted a couple times by potential sponsors, so I thought I'd set up an official "shop" for people who might be interested. Hey, we all gotta pay the bills, right?

Now, if we win the lottery tonight, I'll let y'all advertise for free. K? :)

Have a great weekend, awesome readers!

Homemade yogurt drops

I saw this tutorial for making homemade yogurt drops on Pinterest,
and had to give it a shot! It was the easiest thing ever.

Step 1: Fill a Ziploc bag with yogurt (I used Trix yogurt for kids)

Step 2: Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and pipe onto a baking sheet

Step 3: Pop sheet into the freezer, wait for them to freeze, and BAM! Yogurt drops!

The verdict: Colin didn't really like them, because they're cold. He has an issue with cold things. Silly boy. Mommy likes to munch on them, though. Ha! Maybe when he outgrows his fear of cold things, he'll enjoy these as a tasty snack. They're perfect for a hot day, and so cheap and easy to make! I think I'll try these with Greek yogurt next, since that's my fave. Have you been working on any Pinterest projects lately? You can see my pins at www.pinterest.com/sbuxsweetie!
