Itty Bitty WW Update

So I lost one more pound this week. I have to say.. I was sort of hoping for more, but any loss is a good loss! I have lost 6.6 pounds total since we started 3 weeks ago. My clothes are starting to feel a bit loose, and I have ordered a couple tops from Old Navy that are a size down from what I've been wearing. I can't wait to see how they fit!

I don't have time for a real update now, but will post more later.

Random Thoughts

Well, spring is here and I have antsies in my pantsies. Even though the weather has been quite gloomy this week, the warm temperatures have me daydreaming about beach trips and swimming pools. Maybe it's just me, but this semester seems to be dragging on and on. Even a couple of my professors have said so, and they're getting PAID to be here.

My sister was supposed to come visit me in a couple weeks, which always gets my spirits up, but unfortuately due to the outrageous price of air travel these days, it looks like she won't be able to after all. At least I'll get to make the trip to Michigan in May to see her graduate! I haven't seen my family's house (or the dog) in years, literally, and sometimes that makes me sad. Why hasn't someone invented a teleportation system yet? Or have they.... :)

Oh! On a happier note, Justin and I went to Lowe's together last week and picked out all the paint colors for the new house. We decided to go with a warm, brownish beige for the living room and kitchen - they will be the same color since the floor plan is open and they share walls. The bedroom will be a rich burnt orange, and the master bath will be a lightish olive green. Finally, the front bedroom, which we plan to use as an office, will be a beautiful blue. I've never been big on blue, but Justin and I both immediately liked this color when we saw it. We've decided not to paint the guest bedroom until we're ready to start a family because it's going to be our nursery, since it's so close to the master suite.

Come to think of it, maybe I'm restless because of the house. I'm ready to close on it and move in already! Graduation is in sight, too, which definitely doesn't help with the whole "ants in my pants" thing.

Happy Friday, everyone. Have a great weekend!

Super Quick WW Update

I weighed in this morning to kick off week 3.. and I lost.. (drumroll please)... 1.4 pounds this week, for a grand total of 5.6 pounds! Now, I expected for this week to be slower; the second week always is. But I've stuck to the plan and even forced myself to get back on the stationary bike a couple times (the seat kinda hurts my tooshie).

I'd love to update more -- not that there's all that much going on right now -- but alas, I have a big linguistics exam this morning. Ew. Have a pleasant Tuesday, all!

Katie

PS - I promise I'll find something besides Weight Watchers to talk about soon. :)

Week 1 Report

So, the first week back on Weight Watchers proved to be extremely successful. I lost 4 POUNDS just by following the diet plan and exercising. I didn't have to suffer, either - I ate a Moe's "Joey Jr." burrito with sour cream this week -- seriously, one of my favorite foods -- and still lost the weight! That's what I love about WW. It's all about portion control. You don't have to sacrifice the things you love, you just have to eat less of them.

Let's hope things continue to go as smoothly in the future. :)

In other news, my brother has been staying with us since Saturday night. He and three buddies drove down to see us for their spring break, and it has been a lot of fun! Unfortunately I've still had to work and go to class, but we've made plenty of time to see each other despite my crazy schedule. I love family time - seriously. It energizes me! The boys are leaving tomorrow, and I have to say.. I'm going to miss them!

Also, the sun is finally out again and this afternoon's weather is supposed to be perfect. I'm looking forward to getting out there after work and class and enjoying the beautiful day!

More to come...

It's time for a new me...

Married life has its ups and downs. So far, my marriage has had lots and lots of ups, and a few minor downs. One of those downs just happens to be that when Justin and I are happy, we eat. I love to bake cookies, and we both crave sweets on a pretty regular basis. Well, eventually all that happy-eating caught up to us, and we finally decided that it's time to do something other than just "watch what we eat."

You might remember a while back that I blogged about pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Yeah... that didn't last very long. So, we've turned to Weight Watchers! We've done it before and had positive results, so it seemed like the right thing to do. I will admit, it can be a pain sometimes to count calories, but it seems to be paying off already. I've already lost two pounds, and it hasn't even been a full week yet! We are making the effort to exercise regularly this time, which is something we didn't do before. Between our exercise bike, two dogs who need (and love) to be walked, my Billy Blanks tae bo DVD, and the beautiful weather we've had lately, there's just no excuse not to get off our booties and do something! It definitely helps to be doing this together. Accountability is so important!

So, that's it for now. This week has been pretty laid back and there's not much else to report! I will post occasionally about my progress. Hopefully it will be all good news from here on out!

Have a great weekend, everyone :)

Reasons to be Happy Today

* I slept in late this morning.

* The weather is absolutely beautiful.

* I'm on spring break!

* I feel great and am thankful for my health.

* I'm drinking some really good coffee as I write this.

* My brother called yesterday to ask if he can come visit us in a couple weeks.

* My husband is a sweetheart and I love him more every day.

* Birds are singing, reminding me that spring is almost officially here.

* Justin and I have already picked out paint colors for the new house!

* I'm going to try something new today: baking bread.

* My puppies are very relaxed this morning... they seem to know it's Saturday.

Sometimes you don't realize how stressful life can be until you get a chance to take a breather. Today, I plan to soak up the fact that I'm on break and don't have any obligations to attend to (well, except folding laundry..), and just enjoy the lazy day. Have a great weekend, everyone- and don't forget to "spring ahead" tonight for Daylight Savings Time!

Love and Lattés,

Katie
