Oh Snap! Wednesday

Sunday morning, we left Michigan to come home to South Carolina.

I soaked it all in - the house I grew up in, the grass, trees and flowers; my parents have talked about selling the place in the next couple years, so I wanted to remember every little detail, just in case it's the last time.

Our Michigan trip - Colin's first - was filled with love and laughter. Poor little man felt a little overwhelmed at times, though. :) That's him getting squished by my brother and sister.

We had the opportunity to visit my mom's side of the family while we were there. Colin took a nap on my Aunt Melody. She has two sons and three (soon to be four) grandchildren of her own. She's pretty much a seasoned baby expert at this point. :)

Colin got to meet several of my cousins- that's Riley. Isn't she gorgeous?

Grandma and Grandpa Castle loved on Colin, too. I can't remember what number he is in the great-grandkid lineup, but there are quite a few. My mom is one of seven, and many of my aunts and uncles have granchildren of their own now.

My dad's mom, who we affectionately call Nana, came all the way from Arizona to join in the fun. She brought my Aunt Kathey with her, too. As you can see, we made lots of priceless memories.

Nana is 85, and she's still full of spunk. It was so great to see her. In talking with her, I also discovered we had a lot in common, including a very similar breastfeeding story. We both had supply issues, and we both took it pretty hard when we couldn't keep it going. I really felt we connected on this trip. What a blessing!

Colin did fabulously in the car, both there and back. What an amazing little boy we have. I was worried he wouldn't do well, but I was so wrong. There was hardly any fussing at all. Justin and I took turns entertaining him in the back. It's good to know traveling with a baby doesn't have to be awful. :) It was hard for me to leave, but the good news is that my family is planning to come south for Christmas this year. I can't wait until then! It was so, so good to see them. There's nothing like being part of a loving family. I'm so lucky.
More to come. ♥
