Oh Snap! Wednesday - Eating bananas

Despite not having any teeth yet, Colin loves to try and eat like a big boy.

 

 

He stops to make funny faces and grin at his momma, too. :)

And on a completely different note, I had to share a gift Colin recently received from some very sweet friends. Jonathan and Amanda just returned from China, where they were teaching English as a second language. When they were overseas and heard the news of Colin's birth, they bought him a traditional Chinese gift. It's a delicate paper cutout, and the paper is super thin, like tissue paper. It's a rabbit, because our little guy was born in the year of the rabbit. Wasn't that incredibly thoughtful? We're so lucky to have such awesome friends.

When you see your mommy, your face lights up with that sweet smile of yours, and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I love you so, so much, my little love.

Oh Snap! Wednesday - Rub a dub dub!

You might remember our recent bath time predicament. Well, thanks to a church friend, our problem has been solved! Thanks to Heather, we are now the proud owners of a new (to us) Fisher Price bath seat. Colin loves it. He'll sit in his little seat in the tub and play until the water gets cold. See for yourself!

And, just for fun, I'm throwing in a post bath time picture, because there aren't many things cuter than a squeaky clean baby boy "reading" in his footie pajamas. Wouldn't you agree?

 

What we've been up to lately

So I haven't been posting as often lately, and it's because our lives have been so hectic! Not much has changed, per se, but Justin and I are struggling a little to find some balance. Since both of us have full-time jobs and Colin is currently going to a home daycare, we don't have a whole lot of "us" time. Saturday has become our day to just be together, but this past Saturday we went two separate ways -- Daddy went to a football game, and Mommy and Colin went to have lunch with Mema, and then to a friend's birthday party. On Sunday, we went to church, and then met up with a home group at a church member's house. Before we knew it, our weekend was gone. Don't you hate it when Monday hits you like a ton of bricks?!

Anyway. Between it all, it's hard sometimes to find the time to do the things we like to do. For me, blogging is an outlet. I enjoy doing it, and I find it calming. Plus, I love to show off my little guy, so that works out pretty well, too.

Speaking of which... Colin has a new trick. He's just picked it up over the past couple days!

Sorry about the poor quality - I took this with my phone. It's so funny to me that he's "launching" himself instead of crawling in the more conventional way. But hey, who needs conventional?

Colin also got a new (to us) bath seat this week. Look for pictures of my cutie in the tub in tomorrow's "Oh Snap! Wednesday" post! I don't know about you, but lately the work week has been flying by... and that's a good thing!

Next week is going to be an especially good one, because Justin and I are taking Monday off to take little man to the zoo. We could both use a little time to be together and unwind. I think it will be good for us. :)

Seeing red... and I love it!

Over the past couple weekends, since the weather was so perfect, we decided to take on a project we've been wanting to do for a while. You see, when we bought our house, it was brand spankin' new. No "homey" touches, just the basic model: cream colored siding, black shutters, black door. Here's the "before" picture:

Since we bought the house, we've said that we wanted to add a pop of color. Two years later, we finally settled on what we wanted, bought our paint and supplies, and went to town painting. We used brushes rather than spraying it on. I really like the textured look the brushed-on paint gave the door and shutters. It took us two weekends, due to the fact that it is crazy hard to get three coats of paint done on a door and two shutters with an 8 month old little monkey trying to get all up in your business. It was worth the time we spent, though. It's such a pretty color! See?
