The entryway does justice to the color we picked for the majority of the house, because it is one of the best lit spaces. The color is "Winter Wheat" by Eddie Bauer, and it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself!
For the living room, we really wanted a warm, inviting look. With our chocolate brown furniture and wrought iron accents, I feel pretty confident that we achieved what we were going for.
The open floor plan makes the place feel even bigger than it is, and we kept the couches apart, rather than sticking them together in an "L" shape like we originally planned, to allow for plenty of walkspace inbetween. Our coffee table is currently being used as a TV stand, as we sold our old, bigger TV and its matching stand to one of Justin's coworkers and bought a new, slightly smaller one. (I hung those sconces myself, aren't you proud?)
The dining area is one of my favorite parts of the house. The light fixture came with the house, and I couldn't have picked a better one myself. It's lovely! The table, we bought for $300 from Wal-Mart. Shipping was free, since we opted to pick it up at the store. Justin and I had to put it together ourselves, but it was super easy and didn't take us long at all. I love how well it fits into the space!
I fell in love with the color we picked for the bedroom as soon as I saw the swatch at Lowe's. I can't remember what it's called, but it's another Eddie Bauer color, and it reminds me of red clay. I love the way it looks with our green curtains, and the artwork above the bed has both colors in it, which I think helps the curtains make more sense, if you know what I mean.
For the master bath, we went big, and went green. I was a little concerned when we opened the can of this color (which Eddie Bauer calls "La Fawnda Jalapeno" and that name always reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite.. lol) and saw what looked like a big can of pea soup. We started painting anyway, and were both *very* pleased with the result. I think it looks nice up against the white trim and feels very "clean."
The guest bedroom and office are still a mess, so I'm holding off on pictures for now. We do have a temporary setup for the guest bathroom though, which is very "vanilla" but it works.
Finally, I'll end with a sneak preview of the kitchen. Somehow, this room has become the catch-all for the odds and ends we are using to finish up projects, and I don't want to show it off till it's all clean and pretty. But, here is our amazing side-by-side refrigerator (which we got for 20% off at Lowe's!!) and the door to the garage.
So, there you have it. I will post more pictures as we finish up the other rooms. Needless to say, Justin and I are *thrilled* to be able to paint and decorate a place of our very own. As I was telling my bestie the other day, we felt like we were home the instant we walked into this house. It just... fits. It sure is good to be home.
